FuJET Canyons Trip 2023

What is Canyoning?

Canyoning is the sport of negotiating your way down canyons by employing various techniques; abseiling and jumping waterfalls and cliffs, cascading down natural chutes and water slides, swimming through crystal clear pools and using special rope systems, such as flying foxes. There is usually a small amount of hiking required to access most courses, but once in the canyon, nearly 80% of the time is spent in the water.

Here are the details for our 2-night stay:

  • Friday, September 22:  Friday evening after work we will depart from Fukushima Station and arrange for pickup at Koriyama Station and Aizuwakamatsu Station. We will check in at our accommodation around 1 A.M.

  • Saturday September 23:  First is breakfast at the hotel. Then we will have a group canyoning experience at Fox Canyon. Break for lunch, and then we will have our final group rafting activity in the afternoon. We will end the day with a BBQ.

  • Sunday, September 24:  Depart for home and drop off at Aizuwakamatsu --> Koriyama --> Fukushima Station

ENROLLMENT FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED.

Azuma Hike

Event: Mount Azuma Kofuji (吾妻小富士) Hike AND Witches HikeDate: Saturday August 27thTime: 9:30A.M. - 11:00ish (Kofuji) 11:30 - 3:00 (Mount Issaikyo aka Witches Eye) Parking: $$ Parking Lot (Jododaira Rest House) - https://goo.gl/maps/WieQXAZRzSjLceP38Meet: By the bathroom at the Jododaira Rest HouseFYI There is no service at this location.

How to Get There

By car: Getting to the base of Azuma-Kofuji involves traveling via the Bandai Azuma Skyline, one of Japan's most spectacular mountain roads. It provides outstanding views of beautiful landscapes. The road going up to the parking lot is very windy, and ALL uphill. Kei cars can definitely make it but might be challenging with a full vehicle. By bus: I believe there are two buses per day from Fukushima Station that run along the Bandai Azuma Skyline from south to north and stop over over an hour at Jododaira (浄土平) before returning to Fukushima Station.

Please let me know if you will be needing a ride and/or you can offer rides!
