Meet the 2026 FuJET Council!

  • President - Alexandra De La Hoz

Hi, I’m Alexandra De La Hoz, but please call me Alexa! I am a third year JET in Showa Village in the Aizu Region. I enjoy eating, having a beer on the weekends, and exploring places that aren’t too touristy. I especially love driving around Fukushima and traveling across Japan. As president, I hope to be someone you can count on to help create fun events and make the most of our time together here in Fukushima.

  • Vice President - Jessica Yeung

    Hello~

My name is Jessica Yeung and I am from Vancouver, Canada. I’m based in Aizuwakamatsu City where I’ve been teaching at an elementary school, junior high school and high school since August 2022!

In my free time, I like to go running, skiing, ice skating, and going to cafes. Since moving to Japan, I’ve had a wonderful time attending FuJET events. I met so many amazing people going to FuJET events. My favourite event I have attended is  annual Ski event and Christmas party. It was a lot of fun.  Also don’t hesitate to reach out for anything. Whether it's a chat, advice, or a travel recommendation, I'm here to help!

Hope to see you around at our events!

I love my life in Fukushima, I really do believe it`s the best one! A lot of that is due to the nature and lifestyle here but also the people. I`ve been really grateful to be able to meet so many new people from different backgrounds through FuJET, so I`m excited to be apart of the team!

  • Website Manager and Digital Content Creator- Molly Noble

Hello everyone, I’m Molly and I’m a first year high school ALT from Yorkshire, UK! I’m really excited to be FuJETs website manager, alongside making digital content with Niamh for our socials this year to promote our events. I’m teaching both English and French at my high school in Fukushima City and I really love to read, journal, enjoy nature, and spend a lot of time crafting and listening to music.

Since coming to Fukushima, it’s been wonderful hanging with amazing people in such gorgeous scenery and I really want to share that with more people, and the rest of the world online this year, especially through our website.

Let’s all make some super cute memories together at our events and find me online anytime!

  • Events Coordinator - Alex Glaister

Hey everyone! I’m Alex, and originally from the UK. I’m a 3rd year JET, and I love living in this beautiful prefecture. I enjoy shrine stamp collecting, ukio-e prints, and karaoke. I want to visit every Japanese prefecture, and I’m about halfway here!

FuJet is a great opportunity to try new things, explore Fukushima, and meet amazing people. I came to many events before joining the council, and it’s always been fun! The Christmas party and ski weekend are some of our biggest events and they never disappoint. This year, I’ll be contributing to events with activities and games. I look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Meet Fukushima’s Area Support Leaders!

  • Jesse Ludick - Kenpoku Area

    Hi everyone!

I'm Jesse, from Johannesburg, South Africa. I have the fortune of being placed in Fukushima City and have just begun my fourth year as an elementary and junior high school ALT. I'm eager to provide any assistance I can as the Kenpoku ASL. Outside of work, I enjoy working out, traveling, cooking, and learning about the rich history of Japan–especially Fukushima!

There are hidden gems waiting to be discovered everywhere from the city back alleys to the inaka (countryside) back roads. Kenpoku has something for everyone, especially for those (like me) who enjoy a good cafe hop and hike. You can also attend one of the many interesting events and festivals that are held year-round. There is a fantastic community here doing their best to breathe life into the region and I hope you'll be a part of it.

Don't hesitate to reach out for anything. Whether it's a chat, advice, or a travel recommendation, I'm here to help!

  • Yalimar Pagan - Kenchu Area

    Hi everyone!

I am a third-year JET based in Koriyama. I’m from the US, where I lived in Texas for about eight years but grew up in Connecticut. I have my Master’s degree in Japanese culture and language, with a focus was on Japanese tattoos.

Currently, I often spend my time traveling in and out of Japan, going to cafes or checking out local events. I also like going on long drives, reading, vintage fashion, and cats.

I’ve really enjoyed my time in Fukushima exploring all the sights the prefecture has to offer (especially my area of Kenchu) as well. From Lake Inawashiro to Abukuma Cave, to Miharu’s great cherry blossom tree, Takizakura, and the Bandai Atami Onsen hot spring town, there is something for everyone here. I’m excited to see what else I discover in Fukushima during my time as ASL!

I’m always around if you have any questions, so please don’t hesitate to contact me!

  • Melissa Pulido-Jaimes - Kennan Area

Hello! I’m Melissa and I’m the Area Support Leader for the Kennan area.

I arrived in 2023 from California, United States. I’ve lived there my whole life so moving to a new country after college was a big change! I had great support when I first arrived and I can’t wait to pay it forward. Welcome to Fukushima!

I've come to find that Kennan is a humble but charming area to live in. There are many beautiful forests, scenic trails, and hidden gem cafes and restaurants. Fukushima in general has so much to offer both culturally and historically given that it's Japan's third-largest prefecture.

I enjoy filling up my free time with things like listening to music, cooking new recipes, or visiting cafes.

Need anything? Send me an email!

  • Osama Omar - Aizu Area

I’m Osama Omar, and I’m a third-year JET. I’m originally from Toronto, ON Canada. Although I'm on JET as a Canadian, I was born in Bangladesh and raised in Japan (13 years of my childhood, having graduated from elementary school here).

I am based out of Yanaizu Town, in the Aizu Region, close to Aizuwakamatsu City.

It may be hometown bias, but I keenly feel the Aizu region has some of the best scenic views and activities in all of Tohoku.

The Aizu Region also boasts a rich cultural heritage and remarkable samurai history. Not to mention, it’s home to the most recognized symbol of Aizu and Fukushima, the beloved red cow, Akabeko!

The Akabeko Legend originates in Yanaizu Town, which is popular for its stunning scenery as well as the Mitama Fireworks Festival and the annual Naked-Man Festival at Enzoji Temple. With delectable regional specialties, breathtaking beauty, and lots of onsen hot springs, there is a lot to enjoy in Aizu together!

I am an avid watch enthusiast, a fervent football (soccer) fan, and equally active player. I enjoy running and partake in marathons and regional ekiden tournaments.

In my free time, I love travelling across Japan with my wife Samila and playing with my baby daughter Aisha, as she is still a curious toddler discovering new things.

While being a father keeps me busy, when time allows I also love video games and movies, especially action and adventure ones!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out for anything at all! My family and I are happy to help out in any way, or connect you to the right people.

  • Ricardo Velasco - Minami-Aizu Area

Hey, I’m Rick from the UK, where the tea is stronger than most people’s enthusiasm.

Minamiaizu is a charming corner of the world where the pace of life is slow, the people are kind, and the nearest convenience store is only a 30-minute drive away. It’s a paradise for nature lovers and a test of endurance for the rest of us.

In the summer, you can hide from the sun on hiking trails up in the mountains, while in the winter, it’s home to some of Fukushima’s best ski resorts, given there’s enough snow to make you question your life choices.

If your dreams involve bears and rice fields, this is the perfect place for you.

Let me know if you’re in the area.

  • Eleanor Sollitt - Soso Area

Hello! My name is Ellie. I’m a fourth-year JET, and I am the ASL for the Sōsō region. Originally from England, I came to Japan just as it started to open up after COVID, so I’ve been able to see the comeback of many festivals and school events!

Sōsō has faced hardships in the past but the whole region is full of revitalisation and exciting experiences to explore! We have the beautiful ocean with fresh fish, a unique horse festival, amazing firework displays right over the sea and so much more!

I’m always down for finding hidden gems and helping those around me so please feel free to reach out to me for anything, you can find me on Instagram under elliesollitt98 or Discord under the name morbidpumpkin. Welcome to Fukushima!

  • Tristan Charlesworth - Iwaki Area

Hello! My name is Tristan Charlesworth.

I’m originally from the west coast of Canada and I am the ASL for Iwaki City, Fukushima. Iwaki is a wonderful area with breathtaking beaches, as well as beautiful plum and cherry blossoms.
Iwaki is well known for our stunning coastline made up of seven beaches (each having their own mascot), but we have so many other stunning spots as well!

Over the past two years, I have felt genuinely at home in Iwaki. Its people are welcoming and the atmosphere is very comfortable.

If you get the chance, some of my top recommendations would be: Yumoto onsen, Yumoto dinosaur/coal museum, and Aquamarine Fukushima. You’re always welcome in Sunshine Iwaki!

Some of my hobbies include: board games, painting, exercise, and hot springs!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m more than happy to help in any way I can.
